Sharpe's Triumph: Richard Sharpe and the Battle of Assaye, September 1803 (Richard Sharpe's Adventure Series #2) - Sergeant Sharpe and his detail have been caught in Chasalgaon where Major William Dodd, deserter from the British Army, has captured and massacred everyone within the fort.  Sharpe escapes only because he had been knocked unconscious and thought to be dead.  He brings his information back to Colonel McCandless and Sir Arthur Wellesley.  Sharpe takes part in the siege of Ahmednuggur and the battle of Assaye.  Of course Sergeant Hakeswill and Captain Morris continue their antics to ensnare Sharpe.
