- Sharpe and his company are put under the orders of an officer who paid for his commission and has now idea how to fight. In the midst of battle the officer causes the colors to be lost to the enemy. The officer puts the blame on Sharpe. In order to refute these claims, Sharpe decides to be the 1st to capture one of Napoleon’s Eagles. These eagles were gold finials given to the French company’s to place on top of the staffs of their colors.
