An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon

An Echo in the Bone: A Novel (Outlander) - An Echo in the Bone - Jamie and Claire Fraser are in America at the beginning of the revolution. The book covers the period from July 1776 thru May 1778. It also covers Roger’s and Brianna’s life in the 1980’s. If there is one single plot, it is Jamie’s goal to recover his printing press. Although reading this book is enjoyable and can be savored, the author lets us know that it takes 3 years to complete a book and leaves us hanging on several points in the end.

We also meet up again with Lieutenant William Ransom, Earl of Ellesmere and Lord John Grey.  While Roger and Brianna MacKensie are in 1980, settling into their lives at Lollybroch, Claire and James Fraser are planning to return to Scotland to retrieve Jamie’s printing press.  However, the war in the colonies traps them in the colonies and Jamie is again part of the revolution.  Willie, is dispatched as an intelligencer and during one of his adventures becomes sick and is saved by Ian, who brings Willie to the Quaker home of Denzell Hunter and his sister Rachel.
