Blood Game by Iris Johansen

Blood Game - A vampire wannabe, Kevin Jelak, kills a 19 year old girl in a ritual that is supposed to help make him a god. The girl, Nancy Jo Norris, happens to be a Georgia senator, so Joe is brought in to investigate. Jelak also believes that Eve will be his final and consummate killing. Seth Caleb, who has been hunting Jelak for years, also shows up to help.
