Cure by Robin Cook

Cure - Laurie Montgomery is returning from 20 months of maternity leave. Her only case is a Japanese man who apparently suffered a heart attack at a subway station. Because she is thorough, Laurie begins to investigate further than most medical examiners would.


Two Japanese gangs who have connections to the mafia in New York both want the lab books of the Japanese man who died. One has stolen the books from a company in Japan; the other is killing to find the books in New York.

The second gang is also threatening Laurie, determined to stop her investigation.
