Miss Julia Stirs Up Trouble by Ann B. Ross

Miss Julia Stirs Up Trouble: A Novel - Hazel Marie's housekeeper and cook, James, has fallen and is unable to cook or clean.  Knowing that Hazel Marie can't boil water, Miss Julie decides to get her friends to supply Hazel Marie with easy recipes and to demonstrate how to cook each one.  Thus, Hazel Marie have a cookbook of easy to prepare meals, have had those recipes demonstrated, as well as having some of her meals prepared while James is recuperating.

Hazel Marie's uncle, Brother Vern, has invited himself to stay with Hazel Marie and generally making a nuisance of himself, again.  Meanwhile, Miss Julia is also concerned about the faithfulness of Hazel Marie's husband, Mr. Pickens.  He has been seen in town in the company of strange women.  Therefore, Miss Julia gets Etta Mae's grandmother to help Hazel Marie with the twins and ailing James.

Throughout the book, the recipes that the women supplied to Miss Julia for Hazel Marie are recorded so that we all may enjoy the fruits of her labor.
