The Whisperers by John Connolly
The Whisperers (Charlie Parker, Book 9)
- In 2003, a museum in Baghdad is looted and vandalized. Among the missing artifacts is a box that contains a box that holds something that whispers. Several years later, a group of soldiers in Maine are involved in an operation that is suppose to help disabled veterans, but it has gone terribly wrong and several of the group have committed suicide. Charlie Parker is hired to investigate the death of one of the soldiers by the veteran's father. As he investigates he is kidnapped and tortured. Of course, this only increases his desire to find out what is going on.
