Nerve Center by Dale Brown
Nerve Center (Dale Brown's Dreamland, No. 2)
- ANTARES is a computer assisted program that plugs into a pilots brain to help them utilized more of their brain than normal. This increases their abilities and lets them even "pilot" more than one plane at a time. Congress has decided that they want to put the tax payers money into this program rather than other programs that pilots and those involved at Dreamland believe more practical to military purposes. Because they are forced to continue with this program, Colonel Tecumseh "Dog" Bastian and his people do so. Because of the programs perameters, they choose a "non-pilot" to be their subject, Kevin Madrone. Kevin is the perfect subject, adapting to the program faster than anyone before him. He also becomes the programs worst nightmare.
