The Sixes by Kate White

The Sixes: A Novel - Phoebe Hall, a non-fiction writer, has been accused of plagiarism.  Although there is basis for the charges, the plagiarism was unintentional.  Still, her reputation is shot.  Therefore, she accepts a position teaching at a small college.  While she is there a coed dies mysteriously.  Soon she finds out that other deaths have happened to college students that fit a pattern, but since they are in different jurisdictions and are alcohol related, the police label them accidents.  Meanwhile, other mysterious things are happening that students believe are related to a secret sorority called the Sixes, which supposedly encourages its to be powerful.
