The Last Days by Joel C. Rosenberg

The Last Days (Political Thrillers Series #2) - President MacPherson is recovering from his injuries as is Jon Bennett. Now that the Iraq war is over and there is an interim government in place, the US State Department has turned its efforts to the “oil for peace” plan. Secretary of State Tucker Paine is meeting with Yasser Arafat. As they meet, Arafat’s security’s chief does a suicide bombing which starts a war in the Gaza strip. This traps Bennett and Erin McCoy and their team in the Gaza Station.

I am enjoying these action packed books that are very revealing of the politics of the various nations involved in the Middle East. There’s no vulgarity or sex either.

Blood Dreams (Bishop/Special Crimes Unit Novel) - Dani Justice has nightmares that come true. Her twin sister, Paris, is clairvoyant. Dani has come back to Venture in Prophet County to help Paris deal with her divorce. She is also here because of the dream she has been having involving Noah and Miranda Bishop, Hollis Templeton and a burning building a trap they have walked into knowingly. They are hunting a killer who abducts women even though they have taken precautions and leaves no clues. Now all they have is Marc Purcell, Dani's old boyfriend, Dani, Hollis, and Paris to fight whatever it is that is attacking these women.

Fast reading book however, you can't read it too fast because of the way dreams and predictions apparently are. If you do something it changes the outcome so the dream/prediction changes. I kept going back and forth between the dreams as well what happened in "real" life to determine what happened where and when.

This romantic history has no surprises. It pretty much follows the romance formula. So much so I knew what was going to happen even before it happen. But, even so, it is written in such a way that it was a pleasure to read.

Diana Brisco has come to The Lodge to attend a painting seminar run by Beau trying one last time to free herself from visions, nightmares and blackouts. Quentin, recognizing her as a medium and necessary for his investigation, tries to convince her of her ability. While they are there another child goes missing, and Diana finds yet another childs remains.

Very interesting story with quite a few twists and turns along the way.

Until then he uses regular investigative techniques. Samantha Burke is a carnival gypsy. Of course they have a past, but they have to work together to catch the latest kidnapper in Clayton County, North Carolina. This monster not only demands the ransom, collects the ransom, then kills the victim; but the victim is killed in a very scary way.

Lucas has to get past his “block” so he can fully use his ability and live his life is the main theme of the book. Couple times of fear and suspense, success and failure. A good story but this wasn’t a big page turner.
