Something's Cooking: An Angie Amalfi Mystery by Joanne Pence

Something's Cooking: An Angie Amalfi Mystery (Angie Amalfi Mysteries) -  This is the first book in the series.  Angie Amalfi is a columnist for the Bay Area Shopper.  She submits offbeat recipes that her readers send in.  This Sunday morning she is upset because her one of her most frequent contributors failed to meet her and give her his most recent contributions.  As she is trying to come up with ideas for her next column, she receives a package marked occupant.  Suspicious, she calls the police and places the package in her oven.  When the package explodes, the police take her a little more seriously.

Meanwhile, San Francisco Police Inspector Paavo Smith is investigating the death of a man found in a park nearby.  Because of Angie's father's connections, Paavo and his partner Matt are charged with the investigation of the bomb. As events unfold, Paavo ends up protector Angie as well as investigating the incidents that occur.
