Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, Book 3)
- After surviving the Quarter Quell Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen is recovering in District 13. District 13 and its President, Alma Coin, are leading the revolution of the all the Districts against President Snow and the Capitol. Katniss' home district, District 12, has been completely destroyed by Capitol forces, only about 800 people from the district have survived and are now living in District 13. However, the feeling of District 13 is more of a dictatorship than democracy. People are punished for taking leftover food from the dining hall and everyone is stamped every morning with their "schedule" that they are expected to follow. Katniss is coerced into being "the Mockingjay," the symbol of the revolution. The plan is to film her in various "safe" situations fighting against the Capitol. But Katniss' personality and events force her into real combat and to leading a squad to the Capitol to kill President Snow.
