Sharpe's Company by Bernard Cornwell

Sharpe's Company (Richard Sharpe's Adventure 4) - Word of Sharpe's promotion has finally come through - it has been denied.  Another officer, who bought the position, is now captain of Sharpe's company and Sharpe is put in charge of the supplies and women.  Worse, Obadiah Hakeswill has returned and is determined to terrorized not only Sharpe but the whole company.  Also, Sharpe learns that he is a father and that the mother and his daughter are staying in Badajoz, the fortress that the English are putting under siege.
