A Christmas Hope by Anne Perry
A Christmas Hope: A Novel
- Claudine Burroughs reluctantly attends an event to please her husband. There she meets Dai Treggaron who fascinates her. Later in the night, Treggaron is found leaning over a prostitute. Three young men accuse him of knocking the girl down. When the girl dies, Treggaron is accused of her murder. He goes into hiding. Claudine doesn't believe he killed the girl and sets out to prove him innocent. As a volunteer at Hester Monk's clinic, she is able to induce Squeaky Robinson, the bookkeeper to assist her. As they investigate, they learn that the three young men who blamed Treggaron may not be as innocent as they seem.
