- Miss Julia receives a call from a confused Mr. J. D. Pickens. Believing J.D. is in trouble, Miss Julia confers with Sergeant Coleman Bates. When they find out where J.D. is, they contact the local sheriff who refuses to answer their questions or let them speak with J. D., claiming he is a John Doe and cannot release any information until he receives a positive identification. Taking matters into her own hands, Miss Julia takes Etta Mae Wiggins with her to bring J.D. home.Barely home from this rescue, Miss Julia finds herself in a struggle to keep a carpenter in her employ because of a cult leader trying to recruit him into her fold.
