Agatha Raisin and the Walkers of Dembley by M.C. Beaton

The Walkers of Dembley (Agatha Raisin Mysteries) - Jessica Tartinck is president of the Dembley Walkers Association.  She creates causes by insisting that her walkers are allowed to use right of ways established hundreds of years ago and now are often farmers fields.  After a disagreement about whether to use an alternate route on one of the association's walks, Tartinck walks alone and is found dead in the middle of a field.
