Pale Kings and Princes (Spenser, No 14)  - Spenser is hired by a newspaper owner to investigate the murder of one of his reporters.  Wheaton, Massachusetts is known by the authorities to be a major cocaine center in the US.  The Wheaton cops don’t want any help from the state or federal authorities and least of all, Spenser.  Spenser gets help from the police chief’s wife, the cocaine boss’s wife, and a woman who was involved with the murdered reporter.
