Nine years ago, Catherine Ling’s son, Luke, was kidnapped 1 week after his 2nd birthday by Rakovac, a Russian mobster. Since then, Rakovac has periodically called Catherine with updates of the torture he was inflicting on Luke. Venable, Catherine’s boss in the CIA, has refused to attempt to rescue Luke because Rakovac was useful to the CIA. Now, Rakovac is showing signs of activity with terrorists. Venable is allowing Catherine launch a rescue attempt, but wants Rakovac alive. Rakovac wants to draw Catherine to him to complete his torture. Catherine contacts Eve Duncan to get Eve to do an age progression of Luke. When Rakovac learns of this, he decides to kill, not only Catherine, Luke and Eve, but also Joe Quinn and Eve’s adopted daughter Jane.
