Angelique and the King (Book 2) by Sergeanne Golon

Angelique and the King (Book 2) – Angelique is married to Phillip du Plessis Bellerie and is accepted at Versailles.  However, her husband has been intercepting her invitations so she is being missed by the King.  She also needs to pay court to the underworld that protected her when she was destitute.  Angelique bears Phillip a child, Charles-Henri.  She also learns that her 2^nd child by Joffrey de Peyrac, Cantor, is drowned in the Mediterranean by the Pirate Rescator.  After she mourns at her estates, she is summoned back to Court where her business skills catapult her into the King’s sphere.  The King, enchanted by Angelique, pursues her.  Because of this, his current favorite plots to kill Angelique.
