The Noticer: Sometimes, all a person needs is a little perspective
- Although, this is fiction, this story reads like a biography of a man who refers to himself as Jones. He also refers to himself as Garcia or Chen, depending on to whom he is talking. Jones, notices when a person needs to change his perspective and talks to them. His stories gives the listener a different perspective on their lives and they are then inclined to change their lives.

- Anti-police sentiment is running high in Philadelphia. Groups are protesting with slogans such as "Stop Killadelphia." At the top of their list is Matt Payne, who they are claiming is "Public Enemy Number One." This doesn't stop Matt and the police department from investigating the rash of murders occurring this December.

As she settles into her new life she becomes friends with Margaret Hoskins, who is opening a gallery in town; Shelley and Dan Bauer a young couple with children, struggling to make ends meets, and Beverly, Mr. Wheeland's daughter, who comes up from Boston on weekends.
