The Associate - Daniel Ames is an associate at Portland, Oregon's prestigious law firm.  One night, as he is about to go home, he is requested to review several boxes of discovery papers and deliver them to the opposing attorney by 8 am the next morning.  Among those papers is a privileged memo devastating to his firm's client.  Daniel is fired.  Later, his boss asks him to meet with him at a private cottage.  His boss is murdered and Daniel is the main and only suspect.  Meanwhile, an Arkansas attorney is found dead in a building owned by the client.  The dead attorney was a widower who might have been looking for his wife's murderer.
